Capsaicin, the compound that gives chili peppers their kick, speeds up your metabolism which makes you melt additional calories. You can get it by eating raw, cooked, dried, or powdered peppers. Add cayenne or hot sauce to soups, eggs, and meats.
Eating a breakfast made with slow-release carbohydrates, such as oats or bran cereal, three hours before you exercise will help you burn more fat. Eating slow-release carbohydrates doesn’t spike blood sugar as high as eating refined (simple) carbohydrates, such as white toast. In turn, insulin levels don’t spike as high and because insulin plays a role in signaling your body to store fat, having lower levels will help you burn fat. Another great effect to slow-release carbohydrates is that they also keep you fuller for longer!
The cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower help the body clear excess estrogen—both naturally occurring and chemical estrogens such as BPA.
Additionally the high fiber content of veggies will delay carbohydrate absorption, favorably modifying the glucose response. Their high fiber brings about a very moderate insulin response, therefore making them an ideal fat loss food.
The darker green the veg, the better! Dark green vegetables usually have a large antioxidant.
#7 Blueberries & Raspberries
Berries are great for fat loss because they contain fiber, antioxidants, and blunt the amount of insulin the body produces in response to eating them with high-carbohydrate foods. Raspberries, in particular, contain a unique antioxidant called ellagitannins that have been shown to improve the brain’s sensitivity to leptin, making you feel less hungry.
Eggs are an excellent protein source and they also provide a nice dose of choline, which protects the liver from accumulating fat and they also increase acetylcholine levels (a growth hormone), which is a potent fat burner. Plus, eggs are very filling, and you get a nice boost in metabolism from the thermic effect of their high protein content.
#5 Green Tea
Green Tea hydrates like water, which can help fill you up and shed pounds. Plus, the antioxidants in green tea will up your fat burn and calorie burn. One study found that five cups a day could help you lose twice as much weight, most of it around your middle.
Even if you changed nothing else about your diet, eating half a grapefruit before each meal may help you lose up to a pound a week alone!
A compound in this fruit can lower insulin, a fat-storage hormone, and that can lead to weight loss and because it’s at least 90% water, it can fill you up so you eat less.
Nuts are high in antioxidants, protein, fiber, and healthy fats. They not only increase the metabolic response to eating, but they increase feelings of satiety and blunt hunger.
Walnuts may be the healthiest nuts because they are typically eaten raw with the skin on, which increases their antioxidant content. Almonds also top the list of fat burning nuts because of their high protein and fiber content, and they contain a lot of vitamin E that supports detoxification.
These cold water fish are high in the omega-3 fats that improve insulin sensitivity and decrease inflammation, lower blood pressure and results in a healthier heart. But omega-3s may also help reduce inflammation in your body, which can help you recover faster after a long workout to build more metabolism-boosting muscles in the long run.
There’s no reason to be afraid of eating fats—as long as they’re the right fats.
Oleic acid, a compound in avocados’ healthy monounsaturated fats (MUFAs), triggers your body to supress hunger. Stick to a quarter or a half of an avocado and watch that belly fat melt away. The creamy fruit is also packed with fibre and protein.
Avocado has tremendous antioxidant capacity, and has been shown to completely eradicate chronic inflammation related to high body fat.
